MONTESSORI

Montessori curriculum is non-graded and non-competitive, thus allowing the children to work and grow in an environment that permits their individual potential to reach its own level and at its own pace, without any negative or judgmental pressure. Our Montessori area is filled with apparatus that support systematic, interactive and purposeful work.

PRACTICAL LIFE

Spooning

Everyday life activities like pouring, spooning and transferring would seem simple to adults. But when children perform these activities, they unconsciously improve their control of movement and hand-eye coordination that form the basis for writing and cognitive skills. Most importantly, they grow to be independent and confident.

LANGUAGE

LMA

Language arts include oral language, written expression, reading, the study of grammar and children's literature. Basic skills in writing and reading are developed through the use of sandpaper letters, alphabet cut-outs and various activities that allow children learn the letter symbols effortlessly and to express their thoughts through writing. (OPTIONAL)

SENSORIAL

Children learn best by exploring materials not only with their hands but by using their five senses (visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory & gustatory). Sensorial materials and activities are designed for awareness to colour, form, texture, size, weight, sound, smell and dimensions. Children develop skills such as ability to order, classify, differentiation, independent judgement, estimations, perception and describe sensory impressions.

CULTURAL

Cultural Studies provide the foundation for children to learn about the world around them as it encompasses Science, Geography, History, Botany & Zoology.

Mathematics shelves are filled with manipulative materials that help the child explore and learn concepts of number, symbol, sequence, operations and memorisation of basic facts. Through a series of carefully structured didactic materials, children first pick up basic concepts through concrete activities and they progress to understand more advanced, abstract concepts, mental calculations and problem sums.

Play is the most important element in our programs. A Star Kids utilizes “Learn through Play” teaching philosophy, which ensures that our children truly enjoy the learning process. Through play, children learn about their world, themselves, and others, which no one can teach them. They are able to develop skills such as independence, resourcefulness, curiosity, creativity and responsibility. Play is a child’s work!

SCIENCE

Our science programme is a thinking curriculum which integrates content and process. As well as imparting knowledge, the programme focuses on the development of the children’s Critical and Creative Thinking Skills (CCTS). It enables children to develop lifelong learning skills that will benefit them during their formative years in school and beyond

MUSIC & MOVEMENT

Our curriculum also includes music and movement sessions during which the children participate in singing, dancing, playing instruments, and dramatic play.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

PE

Physical Development is focused on enhancing skills in manipulation, coordination as well as control. It has two essential elements: it assists children acquire confidence in regards to what they do as well as allows them to experience the positive advantages of keeping healthy. Kids naturally love to hop, roll, climb, jump, catch, balance, stretch & bounce and also have the opportunity to do so here with careful supervision by our trained teachers.

ART & CRAFT

Children are encouraged to develop their imagination and ability to communicate and express ideas and feelings in creative ways through painting, colouring, collage, play dough, clay, etc

OUTDOOR PLAY

In A Star Kids, children get to play outdoors regularly. Their gross motor skills are developed while playing with various playground equipment and organized games. Social development is enhanced during these activities as children learn to play, take turns, share and have fun with their friends.
